National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to assess the effects of their proposed actions prior to making decisions. This includes impacts to environmental, economic, social and cultural resources that may result from a proposed action.

The NEPA process results in one of three types of documents: a Categorical Exclusion, an Environmental Assessment or an Environmental Impact Statement. E&A’s environmental scientists and engineers work with the sponsoring local organization and the lead agency to complete the appropriate document for the project.
