The Upper Big Blue NRD needed new office space and wanted to create a campus that reflected its roll of preserving and protecting natural resources and the environment. The drainage challenges of the 10-acre site selected for the project provided opportunity to showcase some of the sustainable practices promoted by the agency.
“E&A was a key partner in the creation of this project, from early design collaboration with architect, engineers and contractor, to meetings with key governmental agencies like the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and Corp of Engineers and to final creation of permitting and construction documents to local and State officials and then finally to our construction staff for generation of the project”…….very professional and prompt!"

Description
The project included construction of a 14,000 square foot office building and a 10,000 square foot maintenance and storage building. Soil needed to create building pads was excavated on-site to create a rain garden and a constructed wetlands area. Drainage on the site was managed solely using surface flow – sheet flow from pavements was released onto grassed areas and concentrated flows was directed to surface swales draining to the pond areas.
