Shelby-Rising City High School Renovation

Shelby, NE

This 62,000-square-foot building expansion project required paving the existing 300-stall gravel parking lot and constructing a football field and track on a 20-acre campus without disrupting school activities.

Description

To meet the project schedule, E&A’s design was separated into two packages. Our Phase I design efforts focused on completing the artificial turf football field, bleachers, and synthetic surfaced track in time for the upcoming football season. Our Phase II design included the building expansion and parking lot, which features separate areas for staff, students, visitors, busses, and parent drop off. To solve the drainage challenges created by the extremely flat site, our creative solution was to add depressed landscape islands between parking rows and drain the parking lot to the islands, which then drain to a detention basin.
