Pacific Street West Outfall Sewer

Omaha, NE

Two sanitary sewer extensions were needed for subdivisions in a growing area of west Omaha. The Pacific Street West Outfall Sewer Sections II and III projects provided sanitary sewer service to approximately 800 acres of new development in the Papillion Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant system.

Description

As the civil engineer for Sanitary and Improvement District #539 (Pacific Street West) it was our responsibility to develop a sanitary sewer connection for the subdivision. Other developments in the vicinity also wanted to be connected. Eventually, the project expanded to almost two miles of sanitary sewer pipe in sizes ranging from 8 – 15 inches. Challenges included designing the sewer route around a dam site, obtaining permits to bore under two state highways and coordinating with several developments.
