The overall goal of this project was to redesign and permit an Industrial Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for the Brown Transfer Company (BC Freightways) facility. City of Omaha MS4 inspections conducted in 2015 and 2020 determined that improvements to the SWPPP documentation were necessary to maintain compliance with the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy’s NPDES permit. As a result, E&A was hired by Brown Transfer Company (BC Freightways) to update and redesign their Industrial SWPPP to meet their trucking and freight storage needs.
Description
The State of Nebraska has authorized the discharge of stormwater from industrial activities under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit. The Brown Transfer Company (BC Freightways) facility is permitted under SIC code 4213: Motor Freight Transportation and Warehousing. Activities at the facility include light truck maintenance, freight storage, fueling and truck storage. Based on prior knowledge from the City of Omaha MS4 inspections, E&A inspectors redesigned the SWPPP and reduced the outfalls to one; streamlining the SWPPP and making SWPPP compliance more manageable for the Brown Transfer Company (BC Freightways) staff.
