Concrete Supply, Inc. was remodeling and converting a portable concrete batch plant into a permanent batch plant near downtown Omaha. With these facility changes, Concrete Supply, Inc. installed a new 12,000-gallon diesel AST (aboveground storage tank) to fuel their concrete trucks. As construction progressed, it was determined that an SPCC (Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure) was necessary due to this fuel storage.
Description
E&A developed a PE (Professional Engineer) Certified SPCC in compliance with the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan Regulation 40 CFR 112 to work hand-in-hand with the civil site layout already designed by E&A. With the construction of the double-walled 12,000-gallon diesel AST on-site, E&A designed the SPCC with four additional levels of spill control – including booms, curbing, inlet filters and a Post-Construction Stormwater Management Pond to prevent spills and leaks from discharging from the plant. The maintenance bay was also built with an oil-water separator to prevent spills and leaks from leaving the facility. The SPCC was completed, implemented, and certified by a PE in 2022.
