Project Description
This asphalt project, located adjacent to two Bennington Public Schools, improved safety by widening the roadway from two to three lanes, increasing intersection sight distance, and adding sidewalks, guardrail, and a box culvert extension. A 20-foot grade change was required to achieve the final roadway profile, which involved cellular concrete, storm sewer, erosion control, curb ramps, and other supporting infrastructure.
Due to its proximity to the schools, close coordination with Bennington Public Schools, MUD, the SID, and Douglas County was essential. Frequent file sharing and design discussions ensured proper grading and maintained school access. Timely communication was critical to align grading and utility relocations with the schools’ opening date.
