Project Description

The objective of this project was to develop Industrial Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) for concrete batch plants in full compliance with State and Federal regulations. E&A initially prepared the SWPPPs in 2011 and facilitated re-permitting in 2016 for Ready Mixed Concrete Company and its subsidiaries—Shamrock Concrete, Siouxland Concrete, and Gerhold Concrete—operated by Lyman-Richey Corporation. Located throughout Omaha and across Nebraska, these facilities required close coordination with local officials to ensure adherence to municipal stormwater ordinances.

Under the State of Nebraska’s NPDES General Permit for Industrial Activities, Lyman-Richey facilities are classified under SIC Code 3272, Sector E – Glass, Clay, Cement, Concrete, and Gypsum Products. The SWPPPs were specifically designed to prevent stormwater from coming into contact with concrete batching areas, truck fueling stations, and aggregate storage sites. E&A also assisted with correspondence between Lyman-Richey Corporation and the State of Nebraska regarding the fulfillments of their benchmark monitoring requirements.
