Project Description
Industrial facilities in Nebraska may obtain authorization to discharge stormwater under the NPDES General Permit for Industrial Activities. E&A originally developed the SWPPP for Greater Omaha Packing in 2012, re-permitted the meatpacking plant in 2016, and updated the plan in 2018. The facility is permitted under SIC Code 2011 (Meat Packing Plants), Sector U – Food and Kindred Products. The SWPPP was primarily designed to prevent stormwater from coming into contact with animal processing areas. As the facility has expanded, E&A has continued to update and redesign the SWPPP to reflect new site conditions and incorporate post-construction stormwater BMPs, including a BaySeparator, a bioretention basin, two StormTech systems, and a series of Bio Clean downspout filters.
