The community of Henderson wanted to improve the look, feel and function of its downtown street and streetscape to draw visitors to their local businesses. Existing store fronts, with varying door elevations, minimal street grade and particular aesthetic amenities posed challenges to meeting ADA accessibility requirements and providing adequate drainage.
E&A was a key partner in the creation of this project, from early design collaboration with the architect, engineers and contractor, to meetings with key governmental agencies (Nebraska Game & Parks Commission and Corp of Engineers) to final creation of permitting and construction documents to local and State officials and then finally to our construction staff for generation of the project”…….very professional and prompt!

Description
The final design featured over 9,800 square yards of concrete pavement and nearly 300 square yards of new sidewalk. Sidewalk ramps were constructed where necessary to meet accessibility requirements. Planter areas and brick accents were incorporated to provide aesthetic appeal. Eight hundred feet of new storm sewer was extended to improve drainage and 1,100 linear feet of water main was installed to replace aging pipes. Work was phased to insure access was maintained to local businesses throughout construction.
