Project Description
E&A developed a SWPPP and applied for an industrial stormwater permit for the Downtown Recycling facility, a 21.5-acre scrap recycling operation. The facility is classified under Sector M – Automobile Salvage Yard and Sector N – Scrap Recycling in the NPDES General Permit. The SWPPP was designed to prevent pollution during stockpiling of materials, vehicle processing, torch cutting, fueling, vehicle maintenance, used parts storage, and liquid storage in aboveground tanks. To meet NPDES requirements, Downtown Recycling conducts quarterly facility inspections, annual comprehensive inspections, quarterly visual assessments, and quarterly benchmark and indicator monitoring of water samples for parameters specified under Sectors M and N.
