Intern Exploration #2

The second Intern Exploration day was a great experience for me! The presentations gave me a much greater insight into the unique career opportunities here at E&A. Because of the experience I’ve gained, and all that I have learned during my two internships with E&A, I was able to have a much better understanding of the presenters' careers. Volunteering at KidsCan was also a great opportunity to work with kids and teach them a little about engineering, a science that they might not hear about otherwise.

E&A’s 2018 summer interns had their second Exploration Series presentation on July 12th.

The day began with an icebreaker activity, followed with presentations given by five E&A employees who shared their backgrounds, experience and advice. Afterwards, the presenters joined the interns for lunch.

The afternoon was spent volunteering at the KidsCan Community Center near 48th and Q Streets. The summer program at the center focuses on different areas of learning that rotate every week and on this particular week, the theme was STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

The interns worked with small groups of children, building structures with blocks and Legos; an activity geared toward teaching concepts of engineering.

It was a great opportunity for the interns to be engaged in the community and spread their passion for the industry.
